Product Care
Preserving over time what was created to last
Each GIUMA Venezia garment is made with carefully selected materials and high-quality artisanal workmanship.
Leather, cashmere, wool and fur are living materials: they evolve, soften, and gain character over time.
Proper maintenance is essential to preserve its texture, structure and beauty.
Below you’ll find our official care recommendations.
Suede Care
Suede is a fine, refined and delicate material. Over time it may develop slight color variations that enhance its natural charm.
To keep it at its best:
-
Avoid exposure to rain or water.
-
If it comes into contact with water, dab immediately with a dry cloth without rubbing.
-
Water may temporarily darken the material: the color will return to its original shade once dry.
-
After drying, brush gently with a brush specifically designed for suede.
-
Avoid prolonged contact with light-colored garments, as a slight color transfer may occur.
-
Do not apply stickers or glue to the garment.
-
Keep away from direct heat sources (radiators, heaters, intense sun).
-
Store in a cool, dry place, preferably in the GIUMA breathable cotton garment bag.
-
Do not dry clean except at highly specialized leather-care centers.
Smooth Leather Care
Leather is a natural material that, if properly maintained, can last many years and improve over time.
Recommendations:
-
Avoid exposure to heavy rain.
-
If it gets wet, dry by gently dabbing with a soft cloth.
-
Do not dry with a hairdryer or direct heat sources.
-
Use nourishing products specifically for leather only occasionally, and only if they are professional-grade and tested.
-
Remove light stains with wipes specifically designed for leather.
-
Store on a padded hanger to maintain the shape of the shoulders.
-
Do not compress the garment in tight spaces.
For a full cleaning, contact only dry cleaners specialized in leather garments.
Fur Care
(Mongolian, Fox, Raccoon, Rabbit, Mink)
Fur is a natural, voluminous material that requires special care.
Upon receiving the garment
It is normal for the hair to appear slightly compressed after transport.
We recommend that you:
-
Hang the fur on a wide hanger.
-
Let it air out for a few hours in a well-ventilated space.
-
Shake it gently to help the hair open up naturally.
This will help the volume to fully relax and recover.
Natural hair shedding
Natural furs may release a small amount of hair, especially:
-
During the first wears
-
In case of friction (bags, belts, seating)
-
On light colors, where shedding is more visible
This characteristic is intrinsic to the natural material and does not constitute a manufacturing defect nor grounds for complaint.
Shedding stabilizes after the first few wears.
On white or very light-colored garments, the released hair may be more visible, but this is a natural occurrence.
Routine care
-
Avoid heavy rain and immersion in water.
-
Keep away from direct heat sources.
-
In case of light stains, dab with a damp cloth and a specific fur detergent.
-
Do not compress the garment.
-
Store in a breathable cotton garment bag (never plastic).
-
Ensure good ventilation.
For complete cleaning, contact only fur-care specialists.
Wool and Cashmere Care
Wool and cashmere are noble, natural fibers, prized for their softness and thermal insulation.
To preserve them:
-
Avoid heavy rain.
-
Do not dry with direct heat sources.
-
Remove any lint with a high-quality electric fabric shaver.
-
Blot any liquids immediately.
-
Do not machine wash.
-
Store on a structured hanger to maintain the garment’s line.
-
Store in a breathable garment bag when changing seasons.
Cashmere may develop light pilling in areas of friction: this is a natural phenomenon and not a sign of low quality.
For deep cleaning, contact professional dry cleaners.
